3M raises the Hispanic Star flag to show its commitment to Hispanic and Latino employees
Dec 6, 2021

3M is committed to The Hispanic Promise, a first-of-its-kind national pledge to strengthen Hispanic and Latino representation in the workplace.

As a public declaration of that promise, 3M has raised the Hispanic Star flag at its headquarters in Maplewood. It’s a public-facing sign that 3M is dedicated to creating a more inclusive work environment by hiring, promoting, retaining and celebrating Hispanic and Latino employees.

“When we set our Latino Resource Network vision to have 3M be recognized as an employer of choice by the Hispanic and Latino community, we knew it would take time and collaboration between many different interest groups and all levels of leadership,” said Marlene Lopez Ibarra, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt in 3M’s Personal Safety Division and chair of the Latino Resource Network. “3M acted towards that goal by raising the Hispanic Star flag and prominently reaffirming our united commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive culture.”

This marks the first flag raising at a newly erected flagpole at 3M headquarters. Sitting next to the flagpole flying the American flag and Minnesota’s state flag, it will fly various flags throughout the year to recognize the diverse cultures and communities that make up 3M.
