Phil Mickelson, five-time major championship winner, is coming to town! He will vie for his next PGA TOUR win when he plays in the 3M Open, joining other top golfers July 1-7 at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minn.
Mickelson is currently ranked No. 20 in the world and is the tour’s most legendary lefty with 44 wins under his belt. His most recent win was the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in January. He’s also won the Masters Tournament three times and is a World Golf Hall of Fame member.
“It is exciting to see our TOUR coming back to the Minneapolis area,” said Mickelson. “Because of all my many long-time Minnesota friends, the tournament management, along with a perfect slot for my schedule, I have committed to play in this year’s event."
“Phil is certainly a fan favorite and is one of the greatest players to play the game,” said Peter Mele, tournament director of the 3M Open. “We are delighted he will join us as we begin a seven-year run of annual PGA TOUR golf in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region."
Mickelson is the fourth player currently ranked in the top 20 in the world scheduled to play. Earlier, the 3M Open received pledges from world No. 5 Bryson DeChambeau, No. 12 Jason Day and No. 16 Patrick Reed, the 2018 Masters Tournament winner.
Proceeds from the 3M Open will go to charities through the 3M Open Fund, including University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. The newly established 3M Open Fund is a nonprofit organization in charge of directing the tournament’s charitable efforts.
Fans can find tickets, volunteer options and more on the tournament’s website www.3MOpen.com.
